HitFix- WBTV and FOX announced today that Cory Michael Smith has been cast as the Future Riddler in the straight-to-series Commissioner Gordon prequel “Gotham.” Edward Nygma is introduced in the Bruno Heller-scripted “Gotham” pilot as a forensics expert who helps Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) in a murder investigation. He prefers speaking in riddles to giving straight-forward answers, which annoys the two detectives, but they’ll probably be much more annoyed when The Riddler begins his reign of terror. Putting together its future Rogue’s Gallery of DC Comics villains, it was previously announced that “Gotham” will feature Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin) and Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle (Catwoman). At least in the early-going, Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney is the baddest of the “Gotham” bad guys. In addition, “Gotham” stars Sean Pertwee (Alfred Pennyworth), Zabryna Guevara (Captain Essen), Erin Richards (Barbara Kean) and David Mazouz (Bruce Wayne).

This cast of characters is starting to round out very nicely. FOX has completely stolen my idea of making a Batman TV Show (even though I want it on HBO and much more adult) but even still I am excited to see how this plays out. A full on prequel is what the super nerds needed because it’s something we’ve never been given on TV or a movie. They will show how Bruce Wayne became Batman but never have they shown him as a child and how the bad guys got their start. So here is a picture review of the cast of ‘Gotham’ (read that last part in movie trailer guy’s voice)

Not a clue who Barbara Kean is but she’s way hotter than Catwoman. Why are her eyes so far apart?

  1. I want to believe that this will be a good show, but having suffered through as many episodes of Agents of SHIELD as I could stomach (two), I just don’t think it’s gonna turn out so great on a major network. I totally agree with you that it could be an incredible HBO series, but with the season finale of The Walking Dead still fresh on my mind, I think that AMC could have made a killer Batman show. FX could do a decent job too.

    • SHIELD is absolutely awful. I got through the same amount of episodes as you, maybe even less. They tried WAY too hard because the Avengers was so huge. I think because this is before Batman has even hit puberty that it can be pretty cool. AMC does indeed need a superhero show asap. They are the normal cable version of HBO
